The Our Generation Training Center is for training missionaries, pastors, and church-planters. The Training Center is a semester-less, continuous school calendar consisting of week-long or two-week-long modular courses. The OGTC’s perpetual emphasis on missions strategy, methods, issues, and history allows students to enter the training program at just about any point during the year.
Fulfilled consecutively, the Bachelor of Biblical Studies in Missions program can be completed in two-and-a-half years if a student applies themselves. We have an intensive training system. Throughout the year students will participate in intense modular courses taught most often by visiting missionaries.
The Our Generation Training Center is a local church ministry of Vision Baptist Church dedicated to fulfilling the example of Christ outlined in II Timothy 2:2.
“And the things that thou has heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.”
As Jesus sought men to be with Him (Mark 3:14), so also, the OG Training Center seeks to use the same mentoring approach of life-on-life discipleship. Students will not only have the opportunity to be exposed to theological training but also the mentoring “withness” aspect that is difficult to find in the age in which we now live. Students will receive close, personal mentorship from the staff and missionaries of Vision Baptist Church. Class time may end, but the teaching and learning does not!
Students will have the opportunity to begin a ministry from the ground up. They will be taught how to start, grow, and turn over that ministry before they ever arrive on their field of service. They will have taught/preached a minimum of 100 times, learned how to disciple, and finished the course load before graduation. Upon graduation any pastor and church would be honored to partner with them for the cause of world evangelism.
One of the most important parts of the OG Training Center is the joy of being part of a growing, vibrant group of believers at Vision Baptist Church. Through the leadership of Pastor Austin Gardner, students will be given ministry opportunities now that will prepare them for their ministries later.
Winning souls, learning how to baptize, how to conduct the Lord’s supper, building a Sunday school class, starting a bus route, and discipleship are just a few of these opportunities.
There will also be times of personal and ministerial evaluation. Learning the “how to’s” will only be the first stage. Working with them until they can actually “do” is where the commitment and love of personal mentorship makes the difference.
It is not a matter of just academics but also of practice – practice not theory. In the security of a local church ministry, the OG Training Center seeks to be a net for those called to the ministry where they might fall, be picked up, fall, be picked up again, and effectually run the race that God has set before them.
We believe students who train for the field should train on the field. The staff of Vision Baptist Church and the Our Generation Training Center have served on the mission field.
Six months of the student’s training must be completed on the mission field training personally under the missionaries.
The student will have the option to choose where they will train for their six month internship:
The six-month internship with OGTC must be completed in order for a student to graduate. All foreign missionaries who work with the Our Generation Training Center have been trained through the program themselves, are some of the sharpest in their fields of service, and have a heart to train others.
